How much does BigCommerce cost?

BigCommerce offers a selection of four different pricing tiers. Prices start at $29.95 per month for the standard package, next is the plus package which stands at $79.95, the pro package is $299.95, and lastly, they have an Enterprise package in which the price depends on several factors such as revenue, size of the business, and the number of stores. All plans include an unlimited number of products, file storage, bandwidth, and staff accounts. You can also save up to 10% on your Plus or Pro plan if you choose to pay annually instead of monthly.

With four packages to choose from, which is the best option for your business?

Comparing BigCommerce Standard vs. BigCommerce Plus vs. BigCommerce Pro vs. BigCommerce Enterprise

If you’re looking to use the Standard BigCommerce package, some of the features that are offered in the higher tiers that you’ll be missing out on are: customer groups & segmentation, abandoned cart saver, persistent cart, and stored credit cards. Customer groups & segmentation allows for frequent shoppers to be rewarded for being customers. You can set up these programs to give them an incentive to shop again through a loyalty program. With a loyalty program and customer segmentation, you can

  1. Retain your past customers. Loyal customers spend 67% more on average than new ones, so your business should focus on retaining customers when possible in marketing strategies.
  2. Increase customer lifetime value, by bringing those repeat customers back.
  3. Build more personal relationships. Segmenting audiences allows you to further personalize email messaging and promotions to specific groups.

The abandoned cart saver feature provides an opportunity to win back customers through email marketing campaigns, which converts an average of 15% of abandoned carts into! The persistent cart feature saves customers’ shopping carts even when they switch devices, which allows for a seamless shopping experience and a better shopper experience.

The difference between the Plus and Pro package is that the Pro has access to Google customer reviews, faceted search (product filtering), and custom SSL. The benefit of the faceted search option is that it can improve conversion by 10% by assisting customers find products through filters like size, color, and brand. This is an essential user experience tool for ecommerce sites with large product catalogs because it allows shoppers to sort through the products much quicker to find what they are looking for. A custom SSL allows you to bring over an SSL purchased from another provider, so if you’re migrating from another platform to BigCommerce you might want to look into Pro over Plus.

When comparing the BigCommerce Enterprise package to the others, this top tier option provides the most resources by a fair margin. And if these resources are worth the hefty price tag is up to you.

Along with access to all the resources the other packages have, the Enterprise package has the ShipperHQ shipping rules engine, while the other packages require an additional upcharge for this tool. ShipperHQ allows for increased checkouts and eliminates overpayment for misquotes by using one of the most sophisticated shipping rules engine right from BigCommerce without using a third-party.

With the Enterprise package, you also receive custom facets (your own customized product filters), price lists, and unlimited API calls. In terms of service and support, the Enterprise package allows you to have express routing, priority support, and strategic account management available along with API support.

Things To Consider While Comparing All Options

It’s very important to consider the special credit card rates for each of the offered packages. While there are no transaction fees for the leading payment gateways, there are added rates for utilizing PayPal as a payment method on your site. For the Standard package, the 2.9% fee plus 30 cents per transaction. With the plus package, the rate is 2.5% which includes the additional 30 cents per transaction. Subsequently, the pro package entails a 2.2% fee and the 30 cents per transaction, and lastly the enterprise package has that same rate BUT can actually be even lower per transaction!

The most popular package is the Plus package, we recommend this one to businesses who haven’t just started but are seeing up to $180k in online sales per year. For stores making up to $400k in online sales and want the additional features should take the jump to Pro. We believe the standard package doesn’t carry nearly the same amount of value as the Plus plan. Just take into account the amount of sales your business can save with abandoned cart saving tools. Whereas with the plus package, not only are you offered more resources, but the annual pricing is eight dollars cheaper.
